Towns of Washburn and Wade Salt Storage Facility

Washburn and Wade, Northern Maine

Arrow down

The Towns of Washburn and Wade are located in the north eastern corner of the state of Maine in Aroostook County, not too far from the Canadian border and some five hours away from Rubb’s factory in Sanford.

Both Towns needed a bulk storage solution for sand and salt so they combined their assets and called Rubb for a solution.

Since the customer wanted a one stop solution to their building project (not wanting to deal with several different contractors to prep the site, pour concrete, etc)  Rubb’s bulk block foundation system made perfect sense and simplified the construction process.  The final design called for a Rubb BVE structure measuring 40’ wide by 146’ long with a 16’ sidewall.

There is a 14’ x 14’ Cookson roller shutter door in one end and a similar framed opening (which is presently covered with PVC fabric) in the rear gable for the possible addition of a 2nd door in the future.  Completed just in time for winter, the new Rubb salt / sand shed will serve these two northern Maine towns very well for many years.
