Commonly asked questions

A Rubb building is a long-term facility with a useful life of 30+ years. The hot-dip galvanized steel frame (ASTM A-123) is built to last the life of the building. The PVC-coated polyester membrane is warrantied for 15 years and typically performs well beyond that. When the membrane eventually reaches the end of its life, it can be replaced on the existing frame, giving you a like-new building for a fraction of the cost of new construction. Rubb has structures still in service since 1984.

Almost every aspect of a Rubb building can be tailored to your site and operation. Each structure is engineered for its location, so you choose the size, span, height, and profile, with clear spans up to 350+ feet and no interior columns. Options include hangar, roll-up, and sliding doors, Thermohall® insulated cladding for heated or cooled spaces, ventilation, HVAC, lighting, translucent cladding for natural daylight, and much more. Our buildings can also be extended or relocated as your needs change.

Rubb buildings cost less and go up faster than conventional steel buildings, with lighter foundation requirements and installation in weeks rather than months. Clear spans up to 350+ feet create wide-open interiors, and translucent PVC cladding bring in natural daylight to reduce lighting costs. The PVC membrane won’t rust or corrode, making it well suited to salt, sand, fertilizer, and other corrosive environments. Rubb buildings can be expanded or relocated as your needs change, while the hot-dip galvanized steel frame gives you the same structural strength and code compliance you’d expect from any permanent building.

Yes. Every Rubb building is engineered for its specific site and designed to the code adopted by your jurisdiction, including IBC 2021 and ASCE 7, plus any state or local amendments. Designs account for local snow, wind, and seismic loads, and each project includes engineering drawings and calculations stamped by a licensed professional engineer for permitting. Rubb also holds Miami-Dade County Notice of Acceptance and an LA Fabricators License, reflecting some of the most demanding standards in the country.
