Fabric Engineered Structures For Commercial Use
Rubb has developed several non-building fabric engineered structures for commercial use. Fabric Engineering can provide the best possible solution for a wide range of applications - not just for buildings and shelters.
AQUA WEIGHTS:
Initially, "Aquaweights" were developed for off-shore and marine testing but they are a very convenient device for all types of load testing of cranes, lifeboat supports, structural members, etc.
Features:
- Lightweight, for easy use
- Fold flat for storage
- Test verification at 5x rating by DnV
- Can be used in multiples for higher load testing to customer application
- Easy to empty and fill
- A certified strain gauge verifies the load applied (available in metric and imperial versions)
- Infinitely variable weight testing within design ratings
- Flame retardant
FLEXIBLE LIQUID CONTAINERS:
Onion Tanks Aquaweights
Rubb Onion Tank Aquaweights have a floating rim and are self supporting. Moreover, they have a two layer base for extra strength and fold flat when not in use. These Aquaweights are ideal for testing ramps, platforms, decks/floors or bridges.
Pillow Tank Aquaweights (stationary)
The design calculation of these tanks is based on the fact that the tank is located on a horizontal flat surface. The Aquaweights can be used for up to 50 ton tests for a single unit. Area of usage is similar to that of the Onion Aquaweight. The Pillow Aquaweights cannot be moved after they have been filled with water.
Pillow Tank Aquaweights (transportable)
These tanks are generally smaller than the stationary type of Aquaweight, but unlike the latter type they can be transported filled with water. Tanks up to 1500 liters (400 gallons) can also be lifted by crane and placed where needed when full. This is obviously an advantage if several areas nearby are being tested at the same time: one does not have to empty the Aquaweight for each test.
Transportable Aquaweights
Transportable Aquaweights are fitted with lashing straps so they can be securely transported or fastened to item being tested e.g. a lifeboat seat.
AIR BAG:
Cylinder Liftbags
Rubb Cylinder Liftbags have a variety of uses including reducing draft of boats/other items that need to be towed through shallow waters. They can also be used for lifting during underwater diving operations, or merely used as buoyancy during waterborne transportation
Features:
- Automatic pressure release at 0.2 bar
- Handles on the side for easy use
- Brass filling/emptying valve
- Glass fiber reinforced plastic dump valve
- Straps for lifting and handling
- Heavy duty gas tight fabric
- Parachute Liftbags
Parachute Liftbags
Rubb Parachute Liftbags are specially made for professional diving operations and as standard allow a maximum lifting capacity of 5 tons. They are easy to handle during diving operation as most models have handles mounted as standard. Moreover, air can simply and quickly be released on ascent by simple control of a dump valve at apex of bag.
Features:
- Easy accessible dump valve
- Handles on side for easy use
- Glass fiber reinforced plastic dump valve
- Heavy duty fabric
- Easy to patch small holes with Rubb repair kit
DUNNAGE BAGS:
Rubb Dunnage Bags are designed for multiple trip use and are manufactured from highly durable gas tight PVC impregnated polyester fabric. A single heavy duty brass valve allows easy filling and emptying
Features:
- Fabric tear strength of 550/410 N
- Fabric is gas tight
- Working Pressure of 7 psi (0.5 kg/cm^2)
- Tested to burst pressure of 31 psi
- Single brass filling and emptying valve
- Easy to patch small holes with Rubb repair kit
- Temperature range -30C to +70C
CABLE FLOATS:
Rubb manufactures two types of Cable Floats; the RLCA type and the RLCB type.
RLCA Cable Float
The RLCA Cable Float is used to attach cables which can be towed behind a ship. The bags are fastened around the cable using a heavy duty PVC zipper. After the cable has been zipped in to the bag it is inflated to a pressure of up to 1.5 bar. This results in the bag clamping itself firmly to the cable.
Features:
- Fabric is gas tight
- Working pressure of 1.5 bar
- Heavy duty PVC zipper along entire length
- 3 straps for added strength
- Easy to attach and loosed from cable
- Maintains uplift capacity to 15m (50') under water
RLCB Cable Float
The RLCB Cable Float is used for laying underwater electric cables from a ship. The cable is rested between the "pillows" of the bag to keep it afloat thus avoiding any "break" in the electric cable. When the cable is ready to be lowered to the seabed the floats cab be pulled from under the cable while inflated, or they can first be deflated for easier removal.
Features:
- PVC eyelets for rope attachment allow easy handling
- Single filling & emptying sea water resistant brass valve
- Easy to attach and loosen from cable
- Easy to patch small holes with Rubb repair kit
